1. Getting started

This page helps users understand how FIRE Planner is organized and how the major planning actions fit together.

If you are new to the app, start by understanding the relationship between the dashboard, My Info, Retirement Forecast, and plan comparison.

2. Reading the dashboard

The dashboard is meant to act as a control center, not a menu of tools, so it leads with retirement outcome, trend context, and plan status.

If you want to judge direction quickly, start with estimated retirement age, target gap, FIRE progress, and the current-plan summary.

3. Managing plans

You can save the current profile as a retirement plan, add plans for other people, or model alternate lifestyle scenarios for side-by-side review.

When comparing plans, the most useful metrics are usually estimated retirement age, current assets, monthly surplus, and FIRE progress.

4. Backup and migration guidance

Before resetting data, changing major assumptions, or moving between devices, export a backup first.

That makes it easier to continue using the same planning history later.

Recommended orderExport first, then make major changes; after importing, review age, income, spending, return rate, and inflation again.

5. Troubleshooting

If results on screen do not match your expectations, review the core inputs and active plan state in order.

  1. Recheck age, target retirement age, monthly income, monthly expenses, current assets, annual return, and inflation assumptions first.
  2. Confirm that you are viewing the intended plan and that it has been saved in the retirement-plan list.
  3. If comparison output looks wrong, verify whether comparison mode is active and whether the selected plans are the ones you meant to compare.
  4. If imported data looks off, review the imported content and manually verify the key planning parameters again.
  5. Before reset, overwrite, or major editing actions, export a backup to avoid accidental loss of a long-term planning record.
